AI Tools · Sit/Start

Your lineup, decided. Before Sunday.

Weekly lineup recommendations powered by matchup data, snap trends, and Verdict’s proprietary scoring — for every position, including IDP.

Sit/Start is a Pro feature, active during the NFL season · Dormant in the offseason

The problem

The wrong starter costs you more than a bad trade.

Trades get all the attention. But the decision that actually costs you the most weeks? Starting the wrong player. That Thursday-night pivot you talked yourself into. The IDP starter you set and forgot because you had no data to justify a change. The flex spot you agonized over for 40 minutes, then picked wrong anyway.

Rankings lists tell you who’s generally better. They don’t tell you who’s better this week, against this defense, in your scoring format. And they definitely don’t tell you which linebacker to start — because most ranking sites stopped covering IDP two months into the season.

What’s different

What makes this different from a ranking list

Matchup-Aware

Every recommendation factors in this week’s opponent. Defensive tendencies, points allowed by position, historical matchup data — not just a season-long ranking that ignores who your player is actually facing on Sunday.

IDP Lineup Decisions Solved

Which LB? Which DB? Which DE? The half of your lineup you’ve been guessing on. Verdict’s sit/start covers every IDP position with the same depth as offense — because you shouldn’t have to guess on players who can swing a week by 20 points.

Confidence Levels

Not every call is equal. High-confidence starts mean set it and forget it. Low-confidence means the matchup is close and here’s exactly why. You know when to trust the recommendation and when to use your gut as the tiebreaker.

Reasoning, Not Just Rankings

Every recommendation explains why. “Start Luvu over Phillips — Washington faces a run-heavy offense, and Luvu’s tackle volume projects 30% higher in this matchup.” Not just a number. The thinking behind it.

Verdict reads your Sleeper league’s settings. Half-PPR, Superflex, TEP, IDP — the recommendations reflect your actual scoring, not some generic standard league that doesn’t match what you play.

FAQ

Questions about Sit/Start

Does it cover IDP sit/start?
Yes. Linebacker, defensive back, and defensive lineman — every IDP position gets the same matchup analysis, confidence rating, and reasoning as offensive players. This is the main reason we built it.
How does it factor in matchups?
Verdict pulls defensive tendencies, points allowed by position, and historical matchup data for each opponent. A wide receiver facing a top-5 pass defense gets a different projection than the same receiver against a bottom-5 unit. Same logic applies to IDP — a linebacker facing a run-heavy offense projects more tackle volume.
When do weekly recommendations update?
Recommendations refresh as injury reports and practice participation data come in throughout the week. The final update lands Friday evening after the last injury designation, so you have the most current data before setting your Sunday lineup.
What if I disagree with a recommendation?
Good. You should sometimes. Every recommendation ships with the reasoning behind it — the specific matchup data, snap trends, and scoring projections that led to the call. Use it as a better-informed starting point, not a mandate. The best managers make their own decisions with better information.
Is Sit/Start available year-round, and is it free?
Sit/Start is a Pro feature, and it’s active during the NFL season — there are no games to project in the offseason, so the tool goes dormant until the season starts. Everything else in Verdict, including the full player database, works year-round on the free plan.
